To ensure safety when using metal (steel) props, follow these key safety measures covering inspection, installation, operation and maintenance:
1. Pre-use inspection
Check the material quality strictly before installation: confirm no cracks, serious corrosion, bending or deformation on the prop body; verify that threaded sections, adjustable parts and connecting accessories are intact, functional and free of damage. Reject unqualified products that do not meet specification requirements directly.
2. Standardized installation
- Prepare a flat, solid bearing foundation to avoid uneven settlement or collapse during use. Accurately complete measurement positioning to ensure verticality and spacing meet design requirements.
- Adjust the prop to the designed height firmly, ensure reliable connection with the supported structure, add necessary anti-slip measures, and do not use random pad blocks instead of standardized fixing.
- For segmented assembled props, ensure the joints are tightly connected and staggered as required, avoid misalignment or forced assembly, and check the torque of bolted connections meets specifications.
3. On-site use management
- Strictly control the working load: do not overload, and prohibit stacking excess construction materials or equipment on the supported structure to avoid extra load.
- Regular inspection: check the looseness, deformation or displacement of props daily, especially after heavy rain, strong wind or long-term suspension. Reinforce abnormal props immediately before resuming work.
- Do not dismantle props in advance or modify the structure at will: dismantle strictly according to the construction process sequence after the main structure meets the strength requirements.
4. Personnel safety protection
All operators need to receive professional safety training, familiarize with the process and specifications. Operators must wear standard safety protection (safety belt, hard hat) when working at height, and set up warning areas for hoisting operations.
